DevOps Engineering Labs

Sixteen labs taking Python, Go and React apps from Dockerfiles to GitOps: CI, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, Vault and monitoring.

The problem

A course project covering the full delivery path of small services, from container image to monitored Kubernetes workload.

My role

Individual coursework.

Main workflows

  • Standard and distroless Docker images for Python and Go
  • CI with security checks, linting, tests and image publishing
  • Ansible roles and dynamic AWS inventory; Terraform infrastructure
  • Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, StatefulSets, ArgoCD for dev and prod
  • Prometheus, Grafana and Loki/Promtail monitoring

Technical decisions

  • Built both standard and distroless images to compare size and attack surface.
  • Tested how ArgoCD reacts to configuration drift between environments.

Results

  • Each lab includes commands, screenshots and output in the repository.

Stack

  • Docker
  • GitHub Actions
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Kubernetes
  • Helm
  • ArgoCD
  • Vault
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • Loki

Limits & context

University coursework, not production infrastructure. Some workflows still reference lab branches.

“Mohamad distinguished himself by applying these tools effectively in real-world scenarios and successfully completing a series of challenging laboratory exercises. His performance was marked by both technical proficiency and problem-solving abilities.”
